Sorry that I’ve been MIA… The last few months have brought a lot of changes, so I’ve been extra busy and trying to adjust. I recently got hired to be part of an art team in addition to all the other things going on! I’ll save that story for another post…
For the last three weeks, I’ve been dealing with the flu and pneumonia, so I haven’t been doing any work. Watched plenty of Dr. Who though… 😉 Just picked up my sketchbook again the other day… Here’s one of the sketches I managed. It’s colored pencil, marker, and gel pens. Hope you like it! Looking forward to painting next week!!!
Here’s another painting that I have in the works. It’s Death carrying off Sleeping Beauty, or Snow White, or Juliet… insert poisoned/cursed/bewitched princess here. The prince/knight/star-crossed lover has just discovered her… This one is pretty big. It’s being painted on un-stretched canvas. When it is finished I will mount it on a board.

Earlier this year I was involved in a group show. As part of the show, we were asked to create a 12″ x 12″ image around the theme: Set Free.
This became a traumatizing assignment for me because I had been feeling very trapped, stuck, immobile and longing to set myself free for the last few years… It was, and still is to some degree, difficult for me to wrap my head around what freedom would look or feel like! So, I decided to do a self-portrait that captured my anxiety instead, and my need to be set free. I may allow myself the freedom to play around a bit more with the images floating over my head. The shapes represent the logistics and puzzles that I need to sort out…
I finally got a decent photograph of this piece… so here it is! Lost in My Mind, a self-portrait. I finished it in late winter. My inspiration was a sketch I found by Klimt. The painting is acrylic on a 30″ square canvas.
You can see a one minute movie of this piece as a work in progress (as well as work on another piece) >>> here.
