sleeping beauty fairy tale work in progress wip heather carrHere’s another painting that I have in the works. It’s Death carrying off Sleeping Beauty, or Snow White, or Juliet… insert poisoned/cursed/bewitched princess here. The prince/knight/star-crossed lover has just discovered her…  This one is pretty big. It’s being painted on un-stretched canvas. When it is finished I will mount it on a board.

Trouble in mind, I’m blue

I have almost lost my mind,

Gonna take my ol’ rockin’ chair
And if the blues don’t leave me
I’ll rock away from there.

I listened to the Nina Simone version of Trouble in Mind while painting this…

charcoal, sketch, boy, oh no

I’ve missed being here terribly. I couldn’t take it a second longer!!! So I thought I would at least say hello. 🙂 I’ve been working on a number of pieces over the last year and I’m gutted that I haven’t shared them yet. Life has just been very difficult and complicated. I’ll have quite a story to tell someday… Here’s my first baby step back into the art blog world…

….a dull blog! 😦  Sorry I’ve been gone!  We are in the middle of a move.  Most of my art supplies are packed up at the moment.  I’m going through serious art withdrawal!!!

By the way, The Brig Studio Artists, who I am a part of, have a show going on now in the North Seattle Community College Library.  If you happen to be on campus, come check us out!  My pieces will be there until the end of February.  I’m scheduled to take over both rooms of the Wedgwood Ale House for the month of March.  I’m going to display as much as possible – I can’t wait!

Paintings From The Brig

I tried filming myself painting while over at the Brig on Friday.  I crafted a makeshift tripod for my phone using a paper towel roll, a yogurt container and some tape.  It worked, sort of… I gathered more footage at home and created this with iMovie’s trailer maker….

This is a piece of a new painting that I am finishing up.  I’ll let you see the whole thing after I make a few more decisions…. and remember what I was going to call it, dang it!  That’s gold leaf around the face.  The writing is in Russian…  Hope you like it! 🙂

Vanishing – An almost finished painting…

I’ve been working on a bunch of paintings.  It’s killing me that I haven’t had time to post them… And, for the next three weeks I’m going to have very little time for painting…  argh!  I’m not going to think about that now…

Sketchy Monday – Where Does The Time Go?

Ergh!  It’s time to get my kids from school already?  I’ve been moving so slowly this month, or rather, running in circles and getting no where.  Hope to have some new paintings to share soon….  I have a show coming up in October!

Heather Carr sketch russian drawing artTried to give this one the look of a wall using Snapseed filters.  The text says, “Don’t Mess With This” in Russian.  (At least I think so, my Russian is a little rusty!)
