Art Sale – Saturday 11/11!

This Saturday, come see the *real* Best of the Northwest! 😉 Entry to our show is free. 😃 We are in the building just beyond the *ehem* Northwest art show – just look for our yellow signs! 👩🏼‍🎨🔶

Many styles will be represented in the show, we are a group of artists who paint together (past and present) once a week.

I’ve been working on some fun, smaller pieces, including some Stranger Things ornaments. Can’t wait to share them with you!

Featured Artist at RAW:Seattle – April 2nd!

artist_flyer_heather_carr

As a shy artist, I’ve got to be the worst promoter in the world, but I’m going to give it a go now… (deeeep breath…) OK! So…

I’ve been given a great opportunity to be part of an Artists Showcase that is taking place April 2, at the Fremont Foundry. It’s going to be quite a party, with bands, fashion designers and visual artists showing off their creations. RAW Artists was created several years ago to help emerging artists get exposure and I’m really excited that they sought me out to join their showcase.

If you would like to support my art (whether or not you can attend) you can purchase a ticket on my RAW artist page for $15. The only cost to me for the show is the agreement to sell 20 tickets by March 25th. I have to make up the difference for any I do not sell. I will have several paintings on display as well as some prints available for purchase.

I may be live painting that night as well… Still trying to figure out the logistics and how to not make a mess… hahaha

Thank you all for all the support you give me, in the form of likes and comments. The encouragement means so much!!!

Hope to see some of you there! Thank you!!!

Sketchy Mondays – Pencil Sketch – Weekly Herald – Shoreline City Hall Show

Heather Carr pencil sketch 2012

I did this sketch Saturday night while hanging out in bed and watching a show – whew, the wild life I live!  I’m only posting the one sketch, as I’m caring for my daughter today, who has had incredibly high fevers for 5 days.  Heading to the doctor soon…

Thursday, I went to the Open House for my new show at Shoreline City Hall.  I’d like to say we had a huge turn out, but most people I know are still at work at 5pm, and not so close to Shoreline either. 😦  But… I had a good time anyway, and it was great to see my work up on the walls!  Here’s some of the work.  It’s up until the end of July.

There was a small piece in The Weekly Herald (05/25/12) about our show, and they printed one of my paintings for the article.  It was quite a surprise!

Oasis Art Show and New Paintings!

Heather Carr 2012

I’ve burned the midnight oil ever since I returned from Artfest to get ready for my two upcoming shows.  The first one, at Oasis Art Gallery in Wallingford, starts Saturday.  I’ve been up late every night painting, varnishing and making prints.  I’m totally exhausted and battling a cold.  Guess that’s what I get for trying to have a second full-time job in my off-hours.  To make things more challenging, both my kids are on vacation this week.  Mommy really needing to write her blog post is not an acceptable excuse for not playing corner store by my son’s account, so during the day things happen in short bursts.  Well, without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to!

I’ve been playing around a bit with abstract painting.  These will be up at the Oasis show.  Ugh, I just realized that I forgot to photograph one of my pieces, which I’ve already sent to the gallery. Doh!

The Battle of Sun and Rain/No Color Left Behind

I’ve been playing around with the paintings that I started in Mindy Lacefield’s awesome class at Artfest, and created some more using her colorful techniques.

Two Heads are Better… This started out as a two-headed bird, but the body just wasn’t working for me, I think this works better!
